You may have noticed that I’m pretty rubbish at updating this webpage. I do have an Instagram account, that I’m also rubbish at updating, however I’m generally slightly less rubbish at updating it , so you will find it is far more up to date than this site, so here’s a feed from it!

Cumbrian Layers - The view from Hardknott Fort, down the Eskdale Valley towards the Irish sea at sunset, creating layers from the surrounding hills. Taken on a much needed brief break from daily life with the chaps, containing much hilarity, walking and the odd beer... You know you're getting old, when you've been out for a meal in the evening and instead of carrying on to the small hours in a bar somewhere you find yourselves sat in the living room at 9pm, with a beer in hand, watching a documentary on Netflix about Boyzone, of all things.

Winter Sunrise through the Durdle Door Arch - I haven't shot here for a while, but last night the forecast looked promising for sunrise today, so I managed to bundle the family into the car for some much needed fresh sea air to help blow away the last remnants of a horrific bout of flu that we've all been suffering with over the past week or so. It was without a doubt the worst flu I've ever had. I was stuck in bed for 4 days, aching all over, drenched in sweat and shivering at the same time, whilst someone was attempting to drill into my head through my eye balls as my lungs were trying to escape from my chest at the same time. Fun fun fun! Anyway, a great start to the day even if it did mean fighting for space with around 20-30 other photographers!

I found myself at a bit of a loose end on Sunday. I'd not managed to get much sleep overnight on Saturday due to Storm Bert battering the living hell out of the bedroom window all night, so I'd gotten up slightly later than planned and smashed out a 90 minute session on Zwift. I wasn't really planning on doing anything for the rest of the day but I remembered Saints were on the TV so I thought it best to avoid watching us get battered by Liverpool which meant I could either sit in my pants watching Youtube drain unblocking videos all afternoon or head out and photograph something. Newhaven is a pretty popular spot when a storm's about as the wind gets funnelled up the English channel and smacks headfirst into the Harbour breakwater and Lighthouse. You really want to get there around 2 hours before high tide to get the really big waves, and hope it's not raining as otherwise you end up getting utterly soaked and all your gear ruined (Waterproof covers are only waterproof to a certain point). Luckily for me the sun was out, so although it was windy as hell it wasn't actually too bad. I normally tend to stand a bit further up the cliff to get a slightly longer lens shot as opposed to standing on the beach to get the usual image. 3 shots from Sundays last minute trip out to catch sunrise at Corfe. No mist at the castle but plenty over the harbour. Managed to get a cooked breakfast in with my Wife in the High St cafe in Swanage, so that was a bonus!

Whilst down in Cornwall for the skating I managed to get some landscape stuff done. I've been to Botallack loads of times over the years but the weather never seems to play ball. It's either a perfectly dull blue sky or more times than not completely overcast. This was slightly better than both of those, but only just! I really need to come back here when there's a storm blowing through, although the path to this spot is pretty precarious and looks like it's only one storm away from tumbling into the ocean.
